Afternoon Walk

I was walking my dog this afternoon and this is what I remember it looking like.

Rough color for treehouse

Super rough color tests for the treehouse. My teacher pointed out that I should add some cast shadows to make it clear that the treehouse is resting on the tree, so if that's unclear right now, that's why.

Homeworks from classes

Linework for a treehouse, a rough for an overly grand child's bedroom, and tone studies for that fisherman's cottage I posted a while back.

Moomins!

I've had a late summer hankering to read some Moomin books again. But unfortunately they are still at my parent's house, I've just never brought them out here. Instead I started drawing pictures. I've read those books so many times I can't even tell you.

Chase scene animatic

I kind of missed After Effects, so I started making an animatic for something which I'll probably never actually animate. Although maybe I'll color over all these animatic bits and make a limited animation thing. I don't know. I'll probably add a little more to this scene though. I've kind of been just building it as I go with a rough storyboard that I draw up every time I want to add new stuff.

The music is "Zoosters Breakout" by Hans Zimmer from the Madagascar soundtrack.

Poulsbo at night

Just got back from my grandpa's 80th bday party. After everyone left, it was so pretty out. This is roughly how I remember it, although the blues were much more subtle and beautiful!

Socially Awkward and Forest Guys

Here is a socially awkward sea serpent. He loves to meet new people, but it rarely goes well for him. I think I want to do a comic thing with him. I love awkward things (I guess that makes me a narcissist as well?) No digital in this one! Straight up pen and marker. Everything in my sketchbook is colored in green, yellow and blue because those are the only markers I have.


And here is a forest guy I drew while I was watching TV the other day. I also want to do something with this guy. Mostly I think I was channeling my 12 year old self's love of any of those books where an explorer was studying some fantastical beasts and making tons of drawings and notes. I always wanted to make a book like that. Pen and grey markers, color in photoshop.

Nautical stuff

I had these two pencil drawings as composition studies in my sketchbook so I decided to do little color things with them.

Chickadees, Monster, and a Jungle

Well, we finished the short, so now I've got new stuff to post again that I've been doing for fun. So many chickadee drawings, I don't know why. And sometimes they kind of end up looking more like plovers, but I'm ok with that. And some of them are going to work.




And here's the rough turnaround for that character I posted before, as well as some colors I decided to try out for fun.



And last of all, a quick little sketch of a rainforest with monkeys. It started with the trees because I pass trees that look like that while I'm walking my dog all the time.

An Elopement

While the family was out at the polo match, Edward and Victoria took the opportunity for an airborne elopement.

Character Turn Around

For my character design class we had to do turnarounds for a character we designed. I'll post more on this guy later, but I thought I'd show the little movie I made to check for consistency. Now I see several things I need to tweak, but overall I think it works pretty well.
